Sponsored by the Patient Safety Technology Challenge, this award carries a prize of $2,500. It recognizes the best solution that addresses one or more of these five problem categories: medications, procedural/surgical safety, patient care, infections, and diagnostic safety.

People's Choice

$1,000

The People's Choice Award, determined by popular votes during the presentation fair, comes with a prize of $1,000, celebrating widespread appeal and impact.

JUDGING CRITERIA

  • Evaluation of the solution's potential to address real-world clinical challenges and improve patient outcomes.

  • Championing the spirit of Personalis - Consideration of how well the solution prioritizes and caters to the needs and experiences of patients.

  • Assessment of the solution's potential for practical implementation and a sustainable business model.

  • Significant consideration of ethical AI principles and the best approaches to safeguarding patient data and privacy.

  • Analysis of the technical sophistication and robustness of the solution using large language models.

VOTING STRUCTURE

{Semi-Final Round}

All teams will be split into 3 sections. Within each section, groups will vote for 2 groups to advance to the next round. Teams are not allowed to cast a vote for themselves. Votes from mentors and judges will also be included.

>>> People’s Choice Award: All teams participating in the event will be eligible to receive the People’s Choice Award. Voting for this award will be determined purely by voting from other teams throughout the event. Only 1 vote will be allowed per team, and they will not be allowed to vote for their own team.

{Final Round}

The awards eligible for the final round teams include: First place, Runner-up, and Patient safety. Only Judge Votings will be counted for this round, and voting will be in a ranking structure based on judging criteria above.
